Mother Nature

Forgiven to the End

As I lay in my hammock listening to the silence
I think of how the world has changed,
Changed in a good way, for medicine and longer life spans,
Changed in a bad way, for war and the fires of industry have ravaged the planet,
And even as I lay in my hammock listening to all that seems silent
Overhead a jet flys and tears the night
As of nails on a chalkboard it seems
The pains of this unhappy earth come to my ears, saying 'this wasn't how it was meant to be,'
But lo, the doom of this planet has come,
As we continue to choke it, and slowly kill it,
And mother nature still forgives, even to her last breath
