New Year

Dead New Year

The People cheer as they count down the new year
Outside there is an old man sitting in the cold watching the snow flakes fall,
The people cheer 5
The man sits down and looks up,
4
The man smiles and scratches his beard,
3
The man looks down at the street to see the street lamp go out,
2
The man closes his eyes and smiles no more,
1
The man stops breathing
0
The ball has dropped, the old man is dead.

Ever After

Ever After

There will always be blue skies after gray clouds,
There will always be a bright sun after the dark night,
The warmth of the light will always shine on your face,
When the pale cold leaves,
You'll always wake up from evil dreams,
You'll always be happy and be loved,
You'll always have a friend when u need one,
Your love will not be wasted,
Your heart is made of gold.

Blessings

Count Your Blessings

You have many friends,
Count your blessings.
You have the love of others.
Count your blessings.
Your life is good,
Count your blessings.
Love is not far off for you,
Count your blessings.
You walk down the isle,
You see your friends smiling at you,
You see your love at the end waiting for you,
Your eyes begin to tear up,
You have counted your blessings,
You have seen your life unfold,
You begin a new future with the one you love,

Outside there is an old man sitting against the wall with his eyes closed,
His life uncrumples in his mind,
His descisions, his choices, his love
His loss,
His downfall,
His peace he used to have,
His every meal,
His every drink,
He counts what few blessings he has,
He gets up from where he sits to see the happy couple go into the limozine,
He smiles at them and he starts walking away,
And for a moment the couple look back and see the old man turn a corner,
His life came into their minds,
His peace, his love,
Their eyes were his for one moment,
And now they count their blessings,
And they see now,
They have far more than he ever did.

Loves Fire

Loves Fire

Love is a fire,

You can be burned,

You can be hurt,

The flame can die,

You can put the flame out,

You can be warmed by the flame,

You can be at peace watching the flame,

Nothing but the crackling of its embers,

The fire can bring light to the dark,

The fire can bring joy in the day,

Love is a fire,

Dont be afraid to get burned.

Sunset Love

Sunset Love

Under the tree there is a couple,

Holding hands as they watch the sunset,

The orange light on their faces as they look into each others eyes,

They see the others future,

They see each others life together,

They smile at each other and kiss as the last rays of the sun go beyond the hill,

They keep looking into each others eyes,

The stars begin to come out and all of the clouds leave,

They sleep there that night,

Watching the stars and the moon,

In each others arms.

One of my Dreams

The One of my Dreams

Being beside you I feel warm,
A warmth in my heart that I have never felt before,
Your smile is enough to make me smile,
Your breath is the only air I want to breathe,
Your I want to be in your life,
Part of the paradise that is your personality,
I want to be with you,

I hope you want to be with me,
Because this poem is about to get real cheesy,
And that might not be a good thing,
So we could have some good times,
And not so good times,
But I'll always be there for you.

The Gleam

The Gleam of your Eye

The years of your life are layed before you,
You can't see them,
But some around you might be able to,
In the twinkle of your eye,
The flash of your smile,
They can see the road you walk,
And some want to be apart of it,
The long years will seem shorter,
The short days will seem longer,
Watching sunsets,
Watching sunrises,
And your paths intersect,
Until the end of the road,
Into the mists of forever.

Light

True Light

The light which you have been given is your own,
You may do with what you please,
At first it is always a white light,
Pure and unwavering,
As you grow and get wiser your light changes,
It can turn as blue as the sky on a clear sunny day,
It can be as green as an emerald,
It can be yellow as the sun in the morning sky,
It can be as red as a sunset.
Your light is to do with as you please,
But don't waste the chance of a lifetime,
Do not forsake your light to a black pit.

Open Arms

With Open Arms

I open my arms to many people
but they always shake their head no
I always begin to tear
The forget to care
My love has been in shread
My heart is made of glass
Until someone helped pick up
What little I had

River to Eden

Scarlet River

A river flows scarlet with blood

Upon the yonder bank lies the garden of eden

In all of its great beauty and wonder

But to get to the garden one must cross the river

A river of blood upon which the garden drinks

The blood of once proud honest men

Guards the garden of eden

The river flows strong as beings die each day

The scarlet river guards the garden of eden,

Do you dare cross?

Dreams

Sweet Dreams

Goodnight from love which has found
Worry not the future
Care not of the past
Live for the moment
For it is free and pure
Live for the love
From which life has given you

Nights

November Nights

Upon cold November nights has my mind been troubled

with the worry of pain

the thought of death

as I walk down the darkened road

my tears are chilled streaming from my eyes

the stars are veiled

the moon is covered

the only light upon the road

comes from a dead street lamp

unable to give my mind peace.

Days

Gray Day

The gray dead sky sits overhead
bringing no warmth
keeping the sun away
and bringing only a bitter wind to deepen the gloom
the pains fo this day cannot be discribed
except by saying that it is a darker day
than any starless night can bring.

Passing

Passing Days

Upon a cloudy sky my days have been spent
In grief and doubt,
And ever was she there
Even when she could not be seen
My thought strays ever toward her
Giving her hope
Praying to the gods I do not believe in to give her guidance
And hoping on to her clear horizons upon the future
She sails toward a sunrise,
While I sail towards a hurricane
The days grow shorter
The nights grow colder
And for the first time I feel I have lost something
And I feel as though I didnt try hard enough
Like a silk linen that falls to the floor by a careless grasp
A pain more unwholesome than a thousand lightning strikes pierces my heart and decays my mind
No blame do I have to give
And that is the way of things.
Things pass onto the waters of time
The good and the bad
And as the old expression is said
'All good things must come to an end'
Whether in the sweet perfume of a rose
Or the hard cold stone that sits in frozen mud.
Our my love will linger
And hers will pass onto another
Yet my love will not be discouraged, nor dishonored.
Upon her mind sits a regret that I wish I could heal,
But I cannot heal it, for I caused it
And never a pain did I wish give her
My pain will pass in time,
Only a matter of time.

Sad

Sad Days

Really sad things have been following me about,
A dark cloud, one would say, amongst the gray mist about me,
I cannot see the way or make any judgment of the condition of the road I am traveling on,
All I know is that the clouds bring rain to my starry sky of hopes and dreams
The winter comes, and the pains will only increase I fear.
And upon the open road I will find hope, and I will find sorrow,
But now my companion has left me
I give her my blessings on her own path of which I play a small part,
She will be contrived in some greater deeds and a sunrise to smote the heart , I deam
And yet upon my road, I see a cold damp mist turning into a dense fog in which escape seems unlikely, and futile
For I have made peace with my soul and mind, although the weep at my loss
My heart cries the loudest for love was there
A feeling of a warm blanket upon a midnight chill
A Loveliness that may be seen again, and yet may not
A joy has left me that I know not what to say about it
For no words seem worthy of its feeling of love and warmth it projects onto all it encounters
No pain of heart have I felt,
And the tears I make freeze in the bitter nightfall upon which there seems no dawn.
Yet hope remains, as the road seems uncertain.

Worth

Worth of a Life

The thought burns in my mind,
A burning question,
Can one life save another?
I know the answer to this question,
But is the Death of the innocent,
Worth the life of the guilty?
Is one life worth the same as another?
Is the life of a rich man,
Same as the life of a poor?
Are any willing to sacrifice their life for that of a stranger?
Is the sacrifice worth the pain involved?
Would you save the life of a stranger,
Over the life of your own?

Mother Nature

Forgiven to the End

As I lay in my hammock listening to the silence
I think of how the world has changed,
Changed in a good way, for medicine and longer life spans,
Changed in a bad way, for war and the fires of industry have ravaged the planet,
And even as I lay in my hammock listening to all that seems silent
Overhead a jet flys and tears the night
As of nails on a chalkboard it seems
The pains of this unhappy earth come to my ears, saying 'this wasn't how it was meant to be,'
But lo, the doom of this planet has come,
As we continue to choke it, and slowly kill it,
And mother nature still forgives, even to her last breath

Heart and Mind

Heart and Mind

My mind opens up to my heart

It speaks of the people it has seen and of the hearts it has mended,

My heart opens to my mind

Speaking of friends loved for now and forever

My heart speaks of one whom it has loved from the start

From the peace she brings

From the joy it has given

My mind is at a loss for words

For it cannot feel in the same way

Together, bound in the same soul and one capsule it seeks the one whom the heart has spoken of

and she is found.

Shores

On the Yonder Shore

I stand on the beach watching the waves lap onto the shore

The sun begins to western

Across to the yonder bank my love stands there

Our eyes meet

Across the dancing water

A breeze lifts her hair as the light begins to play upon it

As a musician would play a harp

Only more beautiful than the music

Her smile I see and a twinkle in her eye

Across the water,

As the sun begins to set

Our eyes meet one last time until the sun goes down,

And night takes sight away from us.

Love and loss

When Love is Lost

When love is lost
The molten core of your heart begins to erupt
Rivers begin to flow from your eyes
Your throat constricts, as a snake would constrict its prey
Your voice cries the pain of a thousand souls
When love is lost
Your world turns into a firestorm
But under the earth there is planted, a rotting seed
and from the ashes of your thought springs forth a sappling
Joyfully it grows amongst the ruins of your pain
And one day it will become a peaceful lush meadow
And your thought will once again live in a fruitful valley.

Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon

Upon the horizon rises a harvest moon
The orange glow of it keeps all eyes upon it
And away from the stars
Lost in thought as the orange slowly turns white
And I know somewhere as I look upon the moon
My love is looking at it as well.

Bittersweet

Bittersweet Night

As I rest in my hammock looking up into the black cloud

A star flickers into existance

I stare at it in wonder

For bright does it gleam

And a loveliness I knew once no so long ago

My thought strays toward her

And yet in my mind what happened I know may have been best

But my heart says nay

My tears freeze to my eyes

As a chill wind blows

And the star is covered

Never to be seen the same again.

Bird of Hope

Birds of Hope

Upon the sunrise I see the birds flying
Gracefully the fly and so alike are they all as they seem to be gliding as one mind
Together, a family perhaps, they fly
Never will they leave each other and sunder their paths
And if one falls then they will be there for them until they are better,
Under the blue sky or black thunderstorm they will be together, forever

Killing Fields

Upon the Killing Fields

From upon the yonder shore I came
Seeking love and happiness
What I got was pain and sorrow
For upon the field I see a blue bird sing amongst the carnage
For a battle rolled amongst the field,
The ground stricken with blood
A sea of pain the tides of which carry the dead men souls
Upon the stricken field I found my lord whom which I was born because of he
To one knee I sat looking at his gray dead face
But I look up to see a woman weep
And sing amongst the blood a song fair to hear and as she looked our gaze was fixed on one another
Through her eyes I saw that this was not her first pain, a love lost, a light put out
I called to her, but she turned and fled,
Into the darkening woods
To be never seen again.

Mist

From the Mist

The night grows darker
The ring of a bell is heard in the distance blown by the wind
Ghostly it seems, comming from a past time that no one can remember
The mists gather together and is a gray barrier in the dark
From the mist a small girl comes out in a tattered gray dress
Bright yellow it once was, and was fair to look upon under the noon sun and her joy spread to every corner of a village,
But now her once bright blond hair is a dark brown
And her dress now a gray rag, unclean and tattered.
No joy was upon her soul now, she looks up and the villagers are frightened,
She begins to weep for they loved her once,
And although changed in body and soul, her mind still thought the same way as ever,
And the joy was there,
But never again was it seen upon the village
Or under the noon sun

Springtime

The Meadow in Springtime

The birds sing out in joy
The animals come out to drink from the stream
All is peaceful and quiet,
A tree stands tall and has blossomed forth flowers of pink and purple,
The blue birds sing in the tree
And the animals go around it for shade
In the meadow during springtime,
All is peaceful.

Winter Time

First Flakes of Winter

Peace is on the breeze as the flakes begin to fall
Looking up it seems like, against the black sky, stars passing you by
The light bouncing off every flake
Cold as they touch your face, and glitter as the stars do
Then going inside, sitting in front of the fire, watching the stars fall in the warmth of home.

Echoes

Echoes

Voices from long ago enter your mind
They are calling to see you again
From a time long ago you cannot remember
You can recognize the voices but cant remember who they are
They only want to see with you
They were with you through thick and thin
An echo of a long ago trusted voice
But you cannot remember who.

Eyes

Eye to Eye

Her eyes reach to mine
My eyes reach to hers
I see her past
I see what she could become
She sees my failures
She sees my mistakes
She doesn't trust me
I'm too willing to trust
she says no
Her eyes are closed to me
The last thing she sees in my eyes
is pain.

Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass

You stare into a mirror

You look into your eyes

You zone into your past

All of your successes

All of your humiliations

All of your hate

All of your fear

all of your pain

all of your love

all of your choices

But just as you zoned in

You zone back out

you see what your past has made you

you see in disgust

you see fame

you see,

exactly what you didn't want.

Life without Love

Life without Love

Life without love

It is a difficult concept

Everyone has someone to love

No one has any reason to doubt that

If life were without love

We would all be dead

Just walking corpses with a black dread in our hearts

Our lives would have no meaning

Our deaths would have no meaning

No one would have any meaning to anyone else

If we are alone

We are dead.

Lifes Pain

Lifes Pain

Your bed is cold as you crawl in for warmth

The blanket is cold and you try to warm it up

You lay there gazing up at the celing

A tear comes to your eye

Then another

Soon you're sobing and you have your face in your pillow

You think about everything you've ever done

All of the pain

All of the love

All of the lies

All of the emotion you suffer from

All of the people you care about

All of the people that left your life

All of the hope there is

Cannot help you now

You cry yourself to sleep

You dream about these things

They haunt you,

They will never go away.

Live in the Moment

Moment

Live in the moment

Because it will never come again

Because once its gone, its gone

It will never come back

Savor the moment

Because the moment is beautiful

No matter how bad it may be

Keep the moment

Never forget it

Your first step

Your first bike

Your first kiss

Your first love

Never forget it.

They just choose not to.

Music Man, First poem to be posted

Music Man

The man is lost in his music making
He is distant from everyone else
He plays his music
Not caring who stares at him
Just playing for pure enjoyment
Playing and singing
Adding to the human culture
He is singing about his life as a child
Then singing about his life in general
It doesn't matter that he sits at the corner
It doesn't matter that he is shabby looking
It doesn't matter that he has had to resort to begging
It doesn't matter to him
He plays for enjoyment
He plays for peace
And he plays for love
Love that he may never feel again
But it doesnt matter to him
He is happy in the moment
He is happy with his music
And he is happy that other people are happy
His own life is of no concern.
